More covetable than a fire man on your arm? I think so. This week art-eco fashion brand ISSI launches a collection of eco bags, clutches and purses at Selfridges. Kresse Wesling, who runs Elivs & Kresse (a company dedicated to liberating materials from rubbish dumps), teamed up with Isabella Macpherson of ISSI and four artists to create these unique gems.
50 % of Wesling and Macphersons profits will go to the Fire Fighters Charity.

Limited edition ‘Ludwig’ bowling bag designed by artist Lothar Gotz. Made from de-commissioned red, yellow and ultra-rare blue fire hose.

Re-dress, the Dublin based organisation for ethical fashion is hosting Ireland’s 3rd annual ethical fashion week this month. Founder Rosie O’Reilly says, “we want to bring the Irish fashion industry together and show them how to implement the tools for sustainable change through our week of scheduled events and workshops.”
Check out the Re-Dress Fashion Evolution Calender to see what’s on…here’s what we think will be highlights:
Ethical fashion pioneer Katharine Hamnett speaking in an open forum with Constant Harris Fashion Editor at the Sunday Independent.
Weeks worth of fashion workshops including Crafternoon Tea, a fashion skills crash course for beginners; French Knickers and Cocktails, sew your own pair of frilly undies; Curious Collars, upcycle old materials into a natty collar.
Fashion Evolution runs from May 26-29 at various venues in Dublin.

Get in the kitchen and get hot this World Fair Trade Day. 1000′s of people will be selling, eating and cooking fairly traded African food products to support Fair Trade producers and small holder farmers this weekend. The aim: to expand market access for Fair Trade producers.
If you’re looking for some recipe ideas ‘The World in Your Kitchen’ is a tantalising place to start.

And if you really like it spicy get yourself some Zulu Fire Sauce. Available online from Oxfam.
Last year the World Fair Trade Organisation recorded 1000 events in 70 countries and touched 8.2 million people. We think cooking up a veritable feast for your friends is a brilliant way to lend your support to growing the demand for Fair Trade goodness.
