Last year bibico’s designer Nieves Ruiz-Ramos travelled to India with a group of UK designers selected by the Centre for Sustainable Fashion of the London College of Fashion. The purpose of their visit, to collaborate with Indian designers and create a number of pieces that would showcase sustainable Indian textiles. These are some of the gorgeous garments that came out of the Shared Talent India project.

Journalists Siobhan O’Conner and Alexandra Spunt are dishing the dirt on what’s lurking inside our lotions and potions. After sharing a horrible hair experience (namely having formaldehyde lathered on their locks, aka the Brazilian Blowout) they did some digging. ‘No More Dirty Looks’ is the result of two years of research into the biochemical concoctions that are our shampoos, moisturisers, mascaras etc. It’s a bit of a frightening tale. However friendlier alternatives are suggested, and these incidentally are also often the cheaper option.
Siobhan and Alexandra say “we wanted to write something for women much like us – that is, women who love products but who also care about the planet, and don’t want to sacrifice their health for their looks (or vice versa). We’ll tell you now: our year of experimenting with what we call ‘clean’ beauty garnered better results than almost everything we’d tried before. And we’ve tried alot.”
So, if you’d like the truth about your beauty products, info on the safest and most effective products on the market, or just some DIY recipes, then this gem should be at the top of your reading list.
