Spanish designers Benet, Saida Dalmau, Anna Julibert, and Carmen Vilar have created this beautiful design for a spiral garden. It just won a designboom IIDA award and we can see why. It features a botanical-like-garden place where people can take a stroll, 170 spots to park your bike and a compost centre for you to drop of your scraps. It’s a wonder of sustainable design, urban farming and botanical beauty all at once.
The designers envisage it as a ‘green heart’ where humans and nature can co-exist. An allotment in the the sky.

Crochet is making a comeback this SS10. It turned up on Chanel’s ‘I’m about to frolic in the hay’ SS10 runway show. Whilst making more of a boho appearance over with Issey Miyake. Crochet is the French word for ‘hook’ and crocheting is all about pulling loops of yarn through other loops (with the assistance of the aforementioned hook). It creates that open weave that can test us on what to wear beneath our crocheted apparel to avoid exposing our intimates to the world. bibico have just added a pretty crochet cardi to their summer collection. Hand-made by fair trade producers in Nepal from local yarn this lovely piece works well with jeans for a casual summer look.

More covetable than a fire man on your arm? I think so. This week art-eco fashion brand ISSI launches a collection of eco bags, clutches and purses at Selfridges. Kresse Wesling, who runs Elivs & Kresse (a company dedicated to liberating materials from rubbish dumps), teamed up with Isabella Macpherson of ISSI and four artists to create these unique gems.
50 % of Wesling and Macphersons profits will go to the Fire Fighters Charity.

Limited edition ‘Ludwig’ bowling bag designed by artist Lothar Gotz. Made from de-commissioned red, yellow and ultra-rare blue fire hose.
